Mo's mask

Leaf man mask
mask project
This is one of three masks that Mo and I made for a community project. The masks will be auctioned off the end of October to benefit ARC. They provide services for people with disabilities. The mask forms we received were not very durable so I tried making a new one with sculpy and baking it. It kept melting in the oven. I wanted to glue coffee beans to it but hot glue was all that was sticking to the sculpy. After burning my fingers several times I finally made do with elmer's and continue to pray they don't all fall off. I made a visor out of a starbucks cup and the sunglasses act as a stand so it is propped up on the table. I am excited to see what the other artists do to have a better idea for a more sturdy mask. It was a fun project to do with my girl Mo.

Happy Birthday Dad!
This is a clipboard I made for my Dad's 75th birthday this week. It has all of his grandkids on it. Everyone came over for pizza and cake this week so we could celebrate the August birthdays. Every family has a member with an August birthday! We call it Al-Han-Aman-eesa Day! I am practicing for teaching a Cricut class I have been asked to teach at the scrapbook convention in Denver in October. I have another clipboard on my website www.CrabbyCrowCartridgeRentals.com under projects.

Cricut Sea Turtle Necklace
This was really fun to make! I have several memory glass pendants that I wanted to play around with. For this one I made a turtle with the Stretch Your Imagination Cricut cartridge in both the outline and the shadow feature using two different colors of green paper. The background paper is an oriental pattern I had laying around. I assembled the pieces with a 2-way glue pen and attached them to the back of the glass pendant. On the top I added the red flower.

3 Envelope Chicken Recipe
Ok, I know this has nothing to do with scrapbooks but we just tried this great recipe from my friend Sue. It is very easy and the whole family loved it. How often does that happen? All you need is 4-5 Boneless and Skinless Chicken Breasts. An envelope of each, Ranch Dressing, Italian Dressing, and Chicken gravy. One cup of water. Spray your crock pot with Pam and put chicken in. Mix water with the 3 envelopes and pour over chicken. Cook on low several hours. If you like remove chicken after cooking and add 1/2 cup of flour to thicken gravy. Return chicken to gravy and serve over noodles or rice.
I suppose this could have something to do with scrapbooking if knowing what you are having for dinner gives you more time to scrap! Enjoy!

Is it really August? Where did summer go?
I keep trying to tell myself that there is still a month of summer. But with school starting in less than 2 weeks it isn't too realistic. I have been up late stamping cards for friends. I upgraded to a Cricut Expressions. Yea, I love it. Sold the old one on Craig's List. It took about 20 minutes. I wish I had several to sell. I have been playing with Doodle Charms cartridge and popcicle sticks. Here is a card. I have also been swimming laps in the pool. I want to be up to a mile before the pool closes for the season. September 2nd this year. I got half way there yesterday.

Playing with the Cricut

Without the kids in school I have more time to play in my stamp room. Since getting a Cricut for Christmas I have wanted to just sit and play with some of the great cartridges. One of my favorites is "Doodlecharms". I made some bunnies at Easter. With brown paper they looked like Chocolate Bunnies! I made a little notebook to keep in my purse. I also found some popcicle cards on a great blog called "Bitten by the Bug". (Those girls are pros with their Cricuts!) So I made a couple of cards with popcicles. I find that during the day I can't stamp or scrap anything I like- but let it get past 11:00 pm and my brain fires up like nobody's business. It makes for a short night very little motivation the next day.
